Car History Report vs PPSR: What Do You Need?
A car history report may combine PPSR information with extra fields such as recorded odometer readings, valuation or sales history. The official $2 PPSR vehicle search checks registered security interests and usually includes available stolen and written-off information. Compare actual inclusions and prices before choosing a provider.
What a car history report may add
A car history report is a provider’s product, not one standard government document. Some providers combine a PPSR certificate with recorded odometer, valuation, registration or sale information. Coverage depends on the provider and the data available for the particular vehicle.

Official PPSR search versus a commercial report
Start with the question you need answered. The official search is a low-cost way to check registered interests and available stolen or written-off information. Pay more only if the extra fields matter and the provider explains their coverage.

How to read report fields
Check the VIN and report date first. Read every security-interest entry and the source of any stolen or written-off status. For odometer or valuation data, look for the date and source of each reading. “No history reported” can mean no usable data was supplied; it is not proof that nothing happened.

Choose a report without guessing
Check the provider’s current price, field list, data-source notes, refund terms and a sample. Compare those extras with the official PPSR search. Keep the certificate you obtain close to purchase and verify the VIN on the car and paperwork.
